Frequently asked questions
Here you will find a lot of frequently asked questions regarding the use and the maintenance of your equipment as well as safeguards.

USE

1- What sort of bread is suitable for toasting
- You can toast many different types of bread at the same time but if you want your toast to be evenly brown, the bread must be of equal freshness. If one slice is drier than another, it will toast more quickly than the other and may even burn.
- Do not insert slices that are too thick. And flatten the French baguette before inserting (both the inside of the bread and the crust side should not touch the heating elements).
- Do not warm bread or pastries on top of the toaster as the fat in them could burn and may eventually damage the stainless steel.

2- Why do the buttons not light up (lever in raised position)
As an energy-saving feature, the buttons only light up when the lever is activated (in the down position).

3- How do you remove the crumbs or toasted bits that have fallen to the bottom of the toaster
Before cleaning, moving or storing away your toaster, first unplug it and let it cool down.
For 2 & 4Toasters, press on the removable collection tray which is located at the front of the toaster.
For the Vision Toaster, slide out the removable collection tray which is located on the left side of the toaster.
Never try and remove with a wedged piece of toast with a metal utensil.

4- How do you remove bread that has become wedged
Before cleaning, moving or storing away your toaster, first unplug it and let it cool down.
For the 2 & 4 Toasters, carefully remove the piece of toast through the slot using a wooden utensil without damaging the heating elements.
For the Vision Toaster, open the window panel(s) and carefully remove the piece of toast using a wooden utensil. To release the window panel(s), slide the button under the toaster and tilt the panel forward.
Never try and remove a wedged piece of toast with a metal utensil.

5- Smoke is coming out of the toaster
- Press on the STOP button
- Unplug and let it cool down.
- Carefully remove the wedged piece of toast ==> see question 4

6- A white vertical strip appears on one side of the toast
The toast has been placed too close to the extremities. Move it closer to the centre.
For very thick pieces of bread, it is preferable to toast them one by one in the centre.

7- Why is my bread toasted only on one side
Check if you have selected the baguette setting by mistake.

8- Why is there a baguette setting on the toaster
The baguette function enables you to toast on one side only.
- Cut the baguette or bagel in half lengthwise.
For 2 & 4 Toasters: Insert the half with the inside of the bread turned inwards (facing the heating elements)
For the Vision Toaster: Insert the half with the inside facing outwards (facing the quartz)
- Choice your toasting option
- Turn on by pressing the “French baguette” setting on the toaster.
Some pieces may become wedged. In this case, cut long pieces and insert them horizontally.

9- What do you do if black marks appear on the heating elements?
This in no way alters the quality of the toasting. The marks will disappear with use by pyrolysis.
If necessary, carefully tilt the reflectors to remove burnt toast close to the heating element.
